The Play, Creativity, and Imagination conference brings together scholars from around the world working in the fields of history, philosophy, political theory, literature, music, creative writing, theatre, psychiatry, film-making, neurology, and neuroscience in order to study these themes in an interdisciplinary setting. One of the goals of the conference is to explore how the concepts and methods developed to study play, creativity, and imagination in each of these disciplines illuminate, overlap with, contest, or complement those developed in the other disciplinary fields in the hopes of broadening our understanding of these phenomena. Another goal of the conference is to explore how the notions of play, creativity, and imagination differ cross-culturally and historically. In order to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the conference, the format of presentations will include papers, workshops, live performances, and documentary films.
